Exploring the life of ancient Greek poet Sappho through the last remaining fragments of her poetry transalted by various sources. Her work is regarded as some of the most inspiring and influencial words of her time, regarded as the "Tenth Muse."
My new project titled "Girls you be ardent" a quote from one of Sappho's poems, is a visual exploration of female romance and friendship. Her poetry was a way to express her socially suppressed sexuality.
The first part of the project was captured on the Greek island of Lefkada where she lived.  I shot the second half in Cornwall with models to tell the story. Using post production and 3D assets to bring studio and locations together I have interpreted her words in my own body of work.
