My style of work is heavily rooted in surrealism and colour, exploring the uncanny and unnatural state of reality. Taking inspiration from historical and contemporary surrealists like Man Ray, to explore the meaning of the art movement and how it can relate to my practices. I like to work digitally using photoshop and Blender as my main tools to create my images as I find it has the best options for me to make my compositions using collage techniques that distort the state of reality and tell a deeper story with the benefits of 3D.
My work also explores the relationship clothing and the body hold together and the meanings behind them, and what society holds over us in terms of expectations and style choices. I find interest in the memory that fashion holds for people and the emotions it conveys to the viewers.
In some of my recent work I have been focusing on the “ghost” model to convey my conceptual ideas, creating dissociation and out of body experiences. Fashion has withstood the age of time, and so the story behind the clothing is sometimes of more importance than the person wearing it. I find lots of inspiration through fashion and so I like to create my own garments for my work as it gives it more of a personal identity and allows me to create a fully designed reality in my images.
